Class 14- Drawing Day

   Today the students spent 25 minutes in the beginning of the class hanging their homework assignment. There assignment was to create "25 of an idea".  They where able to use any medium and it could be 2d or 3d.  Maryann is wanting her students to stretch and create unique imagery and technique.  I see that this is a bit of a challenge for many of the students, but they succeeded in getting the assignment done.  They will critique themselves and the other students in written form before the next class and then turn it in at the beginning of next class.
      After the work was hung the students came back into the drawing studio and got prepared to draw for the rest of the class period. They started with 2 minute poses for warm-up.  Maryann would like to see them create more value range with their dark and light.  She would like to see them do more variation of mark making. "Don't shut the viewer off"..."Back away for the drawing to get perspective".  She reminds the students to place the figure in the ground.   " Remember, Background, Middle ground and foreground", "Contour lines are a description of the mass and volume.
Maryann ended the class today on the note that she will be teaching them how to label their work.  Mid-term is right around the corner, so the students need to get on it, so to speak.
