Today was a great day of communication from everyone in the class. The class started with the students hanging their art work along the blank gallery walls on the 3rd floor of the Fine Arts building. This took a good 30 minutes. The students were excited and meticulous about their placement and display. I found myself to be proud of each and everyone of them. I was astounded by their dedication to the project and creativity.
We did schedule a model for the class period, but we went the entire class exploring and critiquing. As everyone was hanging their works of art, each student was told to write down their critique of each others work, so we can come back together and discuss each work of art. We sat as a group on the floor and stairs of the 3rd floor (Fine Arts Building) and critiqued each students work. Everyone had a chance to speak each time. I was impressed with some of their thoughtful responses to the work and level of maturity while speaking. I feel that every student got something good and worthwhile out of this critique. Maryann and I shared our critiques as well. Bravo Class!

I have just begun my journey in the Masters of Fine Art Program at The University of Montana. I am currently "Shadowing" an art professor in her class to observe and learn what being a professor all about. As part of this process I have created this blog to document what I am learning. Archives
